THE WORD OF GOD AS A SWORD
DAILY DEVOTION
TEXT: Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.
…………….
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
DEFINITION
A sword is a long steel blade fixed to a hilt, used as a weapon, or a worn by army officer, etc., as part of a uniform or as court dress.
Swords were valuable weapons of welfare in ancient times. It enabled warriors to fight without making body contact with their opponents, and to fight from horsebacks.
CONTEXT
Apostle Paul was writing to the Ephesians about the need to put on the whole armor of God. One of the item listed is the sword of the spirit, which is described as the word of God. Paul admonished that if we put on the whole armor of God, we shall be able to stand against all the wiles of the devil
Hebrews 4:12 was penned against the background of the need for obedience. The writer warned that the disobedient risked destruction, for the word of God is quick and sharper than any two-edged sword. Also, nothing ca n be hidden (or kept away) from the sword.
RELEVANCE
The sword of the spirit as a weapon of warfare is useful in a variety of situations. It can be used to break down strongholds, to cast down imaginations, or to destroy powers of the wicked one. If mastered, it is one very potent tool to deal with the devil.
One good way to use the word as a sword is to search the scriptures and find a verse or verses that address the problem/issue at hand, and use it in prayers thus:
“it is written ……., therefore I cut down you…….(mention the problem/demon/issue) by the sword of the spirit.
PRAYER POINTS
1. By the sword of the Lord, I cut off every satanic tongue speaking evil against my life in Jesus name.

9. I use the sword of the Lord to severe any satanic link to my place of birth in Jesus’ name.
10. O Lord, I disperse every ungodly friend and agent around my in-laws, children, spouse and relatives in the name of Jesus.
Topic: The Finger Of God
Daily Devotion
Text: Luke 11:20, exodus 8:19
But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
…………..
Ten the magicians said unto pharaoh, this is the finger of God: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the lord has said.
DEFINITION
A finger is one of the five members at the end of the hand. The fingers are used for work. Also, fingerprints are used to identify individuals, while thumbprints especially can stand in the place of signatures.
The finger of God is a term often used to describe the power that has God’s “thumbprint” or signature on it. When the exercise of miraculous power is unquestionably divine (not devilish), the ancients would scream,” This is the finger of God!”
CONTEXT
In Luke chapter 11, Jesus cast out demons from a mute man. At the end, the man began to speak. His detractors, however, claimed that He was using evil powers to cast out demons. In His answer Jesus explained that He was casting out demons with the finger of God.
Also, in Exodus 8, Aaron was commanded to strike the ground with his rod. He did, and lice covered all the Egyptians and their beasts. The magicians of Egypt tried to imitate the miracle, but could not. They surrendered, and acknowledged that this was the finger (power) of God.
RELEVANCE
1. The finger of God can be used to cast out demons. Generally, during deliverance ministration, you can bind and cast out devils by the finger of God. When you say, “I cast you out by the finger of God”, what you are saying in essence is that you cast the demon out by the omnipotent power of God.
2. The finger of God as a spiritual weapon can be used to silence lying spirits. This is useful either during deliverance sessions or in warfare prayers.
3. The finger of God can be used to overcome the powers and charms of magicians, witches and wizards. It can be used to render them powerless and to disgrace all who use evil powers.
4. It can also be used to overcome the spirit of infirmity. When sickness in the body has manifest or latent demonic roots, the finger of God can be used to deal with the situation.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Finger of God, fight my battle in Jesus’ name
2. I silence every lying tongue wagging against me with the finger of God in Jesus’ name.
3. You spirit of infirmity (typhoid, fibroid, etc), I cast you of my life by the finger of God in Jesus’ name.
4. I overcome witches and wizards tormenting my life by the finger of God in Jesus’ name.
5. The powers of magicians manipulating my life, I severe your link with me with finger of God in Jesus’ name.
6. I dethrone you demon of setback by the finger of God in Jesus’ name.
7. By the finger of God, I challenge witchcraft attack and manipulations in my life and family in Jesus’ name.
8. You occultic oppression and manipulations, the finger of God is against you in Jesus’ name.
9. The finger of God is against you falsehood spirit in my life in Jesus’ name.
10. By the finger of God, I silence anti-gospel tongues in this nation in Jesus’ name.

The breath of the Lord
Daily Devotion
Text: Isaiah 30:28, Psalm 18:15-16
And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.
………….
Then the channels of water were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at the rebuke, O Lord at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters.
DEFINITION
Breathing is the act of taking in and sending out air (from the lungs)
The act of breathing out (i.e exhaling) has several uses in humans. It is used to blow out small flames (e.g candle flame), to cool hot objects, to sieve/fan items (e.g handfuls of grain, groundnut, etc) amongst others.
CONTEXT
In Isaiah 30:28, the prophets explained that God’s breath, like an overflowing stream (or flood) will sweep his enemies. That breath shall sieve the nations, so that God can separate the righteous from the unrighteous in preparation for divine judgement.
Psalm 18:15-16 explains one of God’s ways of delivering His beloved. Here, God breathed upon the waters, and they parted, so much so that the bottom of the sea (or the foundation of the earth), which was concealed hitherto, became manifest (e.g Red Sea, River Jordan) Thus, God could much more easily rescue His beloved from the depth of the waters.
RELEVANCE
You can use the breath of the lord as a weapon of warfare in a number of cases.
1. If you want God to separate the just from the unjust before He sends down His judgement , ask for the breath of the Lord.
2. If you are involved in warfare prayers, or during deliverance sessions, and you diagnose the activity of water spirits (marine spirits, queen of the Coast, mammy water, etc) you can call down the breath of the lord to blow off their (spiritual) cover, and it will be easier to deal with them.
3. When the Holy Ghost reveals that certain demonic objects hidden in a water body (lake, river, sea etc.) Is the cause of the problem, the breath of the Lord can be invoked to deal with the problem.
4. The breath of the lord is a potent “sieve” to blow away chaff from the wheat in the house of God. Thus, when you notice that agents of the devil have crept into the church, and it is difficult to identify them physically, pray using the t breath of the Lord to blow them away.
5. Whenever you are confronted with a mysterious circumstance, which is difficult to understand, ask for the breath of the Lord to expose the secret. An African adage says, when the wind blows, you shall see the hidden genitals of the chicken.
6. Also, whenever you face a situation that threatens to “choke” or “swallow” you, use the breath of the Lord to free yourself.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Let the breath of God blow against every evil fire made against my home in Jesus’ name.
2. Let the breath of God expose all satanic activities in my life in Jesus’ name.
3. Let the breath of God scatter all the enemies of my destiny in Jesus’ name.
4. Heaven father, let your breath expose all satanic agents in my church in Jesus’ name.
5. Let the breath of God blow out all stubborn problems in my life in the name of Jesus.
THE WHIRLWIND OF THE LORD
TEXT Jeremiah 30:23
“Behold, the whirlwind of the lord goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of wicked”.
DEFINITION
The whirlwind is a swift circling current of air in a funnel-shaped column. It can be very powerful and dangerous –destroying properties, carrying dust into people’s eyes and sometimes sweeping/carrying them off their feet.
The English proverb “sow the wind, reap the whirlwind” means “do wrong, and as a result, bring severe punishment upon yourself”
CONTEXT
When the people of God are reconciled to Him, He will commence measures to take them back to the Promised Land. Now, the people are God’s people, and He is their God. Therefore, his anger shall burst forth upon their wicked enemies. It will be like a storm of whirlwind. It will be very fierce and shall rage violently against the wicked. It will not stop until it has finished God’s plans.
RELEVANCE
The whirlwind of the Lord as a weapon of warfare has several uses.
1. It can be used to overthrow spiritual wickedness in high places. Just as the physical whirlwind sweeps objects in its way, the whirlwind of the Lord shall sweep away all of them.
2. The whirlwind of the Lord can be used to fight all human agents of wickedness. These include witches, wizards and demon incarnates. The whirlwind can also be used to scatter their meetings and to carry them to dry places.
3. The whirlwind of the Lord is especially useful against spiritual strongman who stands in the way of miracles. The whirlwind of the Lord shall sweep him off his feet and utterly destroy him.
4. Furthermore, the whirlwind can be used to overthrow all those who attempt to put the saints in bondage.
Wherever God sends His whirlwind, great and terrible things happen. May the whirlwind of the Lord fight for you and deliver you in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER POINTS
1. You witches and wizards in my father’s house be swept away by the whirlwind of the Lord in Jesus mighty name of Jesus.
2. Let the whirlwind of the lord cause blindness in the evil eyes monitoring my life in Jesus’ name.
3. Whirlwind of the Lord! Scatter every satanic gathering against my breakthrough in Jesus’ name.
4. Whirlwind of the Lord, blow destruction into the camp of my enemies in Jesus’ name.
5. I send every satanic weapon with the Whirlwind of the Lord in Jesus’ name.
6. Whirlwind of the Lord, destroy every satanic altar constructed against me in Jesus’ name.
7. I direct the whirlwind of the Lord against all satanic priests manipulating my destiny in Jesus’ name.
8. Whirlwind of the Lord, submerge the enemies of my destiny in the Red Sea in Jesus’ name.
9. I come directly against all those who attempt to put the saints in bondage with the whirlwind of the Lord in Jesus’ name.
10. The whirlwind of the Lord, scatter the activities and destroy the effect and purpose of spiritual strongman who stands in the way of my miracles in Jesus’ name.
The 4 Rs
“I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” (Psalm 40:8, NLT)
As I consider how God Power works in and through all believers, I believe it is best explained by what I like to describe as the “4 Rs”: Relationship, Revelation, Reflection, and Redemption. All of these Rs are connected to and interrelated with each other.
Relationship
We have a relationship with almighty God through his Son, Jesus Christ. This relationship is established by receiving Christ as our personal Savior and trusting in his saving work on the cross.
Revelation
The relationship we have with God, when it is alive and growing, leads to revelation. As we spend time in God’s Word, he reveals his will to us. In Jeremiah 33:3 we read, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (NIV). As we spend time in God’s Word, he will guide and direct our steps as we trust in him. All of this becomes a reality in our lives as we allow the Holy Spirit to renew our minds and transform us from within.
Reflection
After something is revealed to us, we must reflect upon it. What does this mean? What should we do with what has been revealed to us? How does this impact our lives and the world around us? Does this revelation require action on our part? This really is the beginning of God Power working its way in and through our lives.
We have a relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ, his Son; the Holy Spirit reveals God’s will to us; and we must reflect on what is revealed to us in order to move forward in the strength and wisdom of the Spirit. All of these principles are interrelated. When we are faced with the claims of Christ, we must make a decision. We must be careful to act in whatever way God is directing us when his will is revealed to us. God Power enlightens us in the process of revelation. It directs us to make right decisions and empowers us to follow through on those decisions.
Redemption
Once we decide to act on what has been revealed to us, we are in a position to redeem our world for God and his purposes. Because of our relationship with God through Jesus Christ, we understand that we are living in a world that in its present form is passing away. Everything we can see and touch is in the process of perishing. But we know that we can converterlate the perishable items of time, talent, and treasure of this world into the imperishable values and treasure of the world to come. The New Testament instructs us, “Make the most of every opportunity” (Ephesians 5:16, NLT), and “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity” (Colossians 4:5, NLT).
If you were to ask a friend, What does the word redemption mean? they might be a little perplexed. The definition of redemption according to Merriam-Webster is the act of making something better or more acceptable, the act of exchanging something for some kind of award. Other definitions include repurchasing something or making a deliverance or rescue. We could also include the idea of exchanging something by using something else of value. To redeem something essentially means to buy it back or regain possession of it. It is a “recover and restore” process.
When we decide to move into the redemption phase of God’s revelation, we are not merely making the most of something. We are actually intentionally seizing an opportunity for a special work.
The 4 Rs are intertwined and represent a cycle. They also intersect with the “soak, sow, and flow” principle. Since this is a circular illustration, I’ve also added a “grow” component to the “soak, sow, and flow” that takes the process one step further. I believe this concept is best illustrated by what I like to refer to as a “Sonburst of Revelation.” This is actually a circle that represents a continuing reference to a key revelation from God.
Take a moment to really consider your life. Do you move through the 4 Rs or do you often get “stuck” at one place in the cycle? What steps can you take to be more intentional in continuing to move around the circle?
God Power empowers us to intentionally seize an opportunity from God for his special work.
In this new month apply the 4 Rs and let it power works for you
Happy New Month

TOPIC: SON OF A STRANGE WOMAN
FOCUS: USEFULNESS
CASE STUDY: JEPHTHAH
CHARACTERISTICS:
MATURITY AND HUMILITY
TEXT: Judges 11:
1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah.
2 And Gilead’s wife bare him sons; and his wife’s sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father’s house; for thou art the son of a strange woman.
3 Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.
4 And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.
5 And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:
6 And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.
7 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father’s house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress?
8 And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we turn again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
9 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?
10 And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words.
11 Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.
Jephthah was a young man with great potential that the bible described him as a mighty man of valor, if you check dictionary you will notice that the word “valor” means ” value, and worth”
When you are a person of value you will never mind what inscription people describe you with, notice in vs 2 how Jephthah brethren described him? “son of a strange woman” meaning a stranger.
The truth is that Jephthah never recognized himself to be a stranger but a mighty man who’s vision is based on leadership
Definitely, Jephthah brethren knows his strength but they didn’t value it and so thrusted him out of the house depriving him his own share of his father’s inheritance, “to know you is one thing to value you is another thing”.
Jephthah himself knew his worth and then he fled from his brethren
Many of us would want to consider cultism or visit native doctor to fight but Jephthah consider fleeing from his desperate brethren as the best option
Who dare tag some Nigerian guys with such an inscription? Son of a strange woman, aromate will locate you but Jephthah based his confidence on God knowing that God will definitely fight for his stead
A safety personnel during our departmental safety lecture said, “never try to fight a fire you cannot fight, if the fire is bigger than your fire fighting gadget run for your life”
That is exactly what Jephthah did, he ran for his dear life
Jephthah fleed from a desperate treat you also must run.
Don’t wait to ask why you must run from your own father’s inheritance, if you are reading this I encourage you to run for your own benefit.
Notice what you stand to benefit if you run:
1. Running saves you from desperate danger -1 Kings 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
1 Kings 19:3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba,…………..
2. You must run if you want to be useful in to God and the society -Acts 14:5 And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,
Acts 14:6 They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:
Notice in vs 5 how the elders of Gilead, Jephthah brethren went to fetch him to be their head?
I speak to someone who will focus on, those that reject you will surely find you for good
3. You must run because by strength shall no man prevail- Hannah says in 1 Samuel 2:9 “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail”. I pray for you reading this, all your battles the Lord will fight for you in Jesus name
Now let’s discuss on the characteristics of Jephthah
1. Maturity
2. Humility
1. Maturity: What? The state of being mature, ready or ripe
It important to note that Jephthah became famous not because of his strength and power or ability but because he possessed this qualities as his character you too must possess it
It was based on his level of maturity that he developed the idea of fleeing, a matured man will silently walk out of an argument just to avoid unnecessary and unavoidable issues
When you are matured you know and observe ‘the does and don’t’
For you to be useful you must be matured in all ramifications
2. Humility: What?
*The characteristic of being humble; humbleness in character and behavior
Had it been Jephthah was a stubborn type he wouldn’t have fleed nor returned with his brethren when they came back for him, knowing his worth, he turned his maturity to humility
He was humble to mankind and God
In Judges 11:29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.
This was because Jephthah humbled himself before the Lord, if you read down to vs 32 and 33 you will notice how God gave him victory over his enemies (usefulness)
He was useful to God and his people, God used him tremendously, however you too can be useful if you consider Jephthah qualities.
The are a lot of vaccines both in Christendom and the society waiting for your manifestation, you might not be useful in fighting battle just like Jephthah but you can be useful your own capacity by spreading the word of God, taking rules of leadership, impacting life’s just as I did.
I decided not to kill my God’s given talent and I invest it in such a way that you reading this can benefit from
What are those gifts and talent that God has planted in you?
How are you utilizing your talent?
Are you killing or investing it?
